The Foundation has provided many types of support for residents, including rent subsidy, wellness and meal program funding, purchasing equipment for residents with impaired vision and hearing, and furnishing common areas in Golden West.

Your generous tax-deductible donation can go to the General Assistance Fund, to be used at the discretion of the Foundation for areas of greatest need, or to the fund of your choice. Available funds supported by the Foundation include:

The Critical Infrastructure Improvements Fund

With a history of success also comes an aging infrastructure in need of significant maintenance, repair and improvements such as elevator modernization, upgraded mechanical systems, window and carpet replacement, and more. This fund helps ensure ongoing upkeep to maintain a safe and attractive facility in good working order.

The Wellness and Other Vital Programs Fund

This fund provides scholarships for residents who cannot afford the membership fee to the Wellness Center, an in-house fitness center supervised by an exercise physiologist, and supports personal needs such as hearing equipment, eyeglasses and walkers.

The Foundation provides 15-17 scholarships to the Wellness Center per month. $60 pays for one scholarship for one month, and $720 pays for one scholarship for one year. At least three residents per year receive personal needs subsidies.

The Assisted Living Services Fund

Helps to fund health, personal and supportive services for Golden West residents so they can participate in activities of daily living.

The Rental and Food Assistance Fund

The Rental Assistance Fund helps cover the gap between inadequate Medicaid reimbursement rates and the cost of providing housing and services to Golden West residents on Medicaid. The cost to the Golden West Foundation to subsidize one year’s rent for a Medicaid-eligible resident is approximately $20,490. In addition, food assistance is provided to residents who cannot afford the full cost of the meal program at Golden West.
