Meet Assisted Living Administrator Jennifer Giovanetto

Golden West’s Assisted Living Administrator Jennifer Giovanetto began her career in long-term care when she was only 15, working in the senior living field for close to 17 years before joining the team in September 2020.

She started off on the skilled nursing side as a business office coordinator and admissions associate at skilled facilities, then later switched to running an assisted living facility. After experiencing the world of skilled nursing, Jennifer realized she preferred working with assisted living residents because “I get to be involved in their everyday life, in their care. They just have a lot to say. They’re spunkier.”

“I’ve done all different types of jobs in senior living because I wanted to be able to do everything in case I needed to step in to any role,” added Jennifer. “I wanted to make sure I could handle what needs to be done each day.”

Jennifer oversees The Mezzanine, Golden West’s assisted living community, where she is responsible for around 40 residents and 20 staff members. She described her workaday life as “always making sure that the staff have what they need to do their work, helping with scheduling, working with residents and families. Overall, my job is to make sure everything is running smoothly.”

“There’s so much I do and it’s so different every single day, which is why I love it. Each day feels new,” said Jennifer, adding that another focus she has is making sure staff members are supported, residents are receiving the best care, COVID regulations are followed and mental health is prioritized.

Jennifer describes Golden West as a “close” and “homey” community and said that, as someone raised by a single mother who was always concerned about affordability, she personally appreciates the community’s mission to provide affordable housing for Boulder’s seniors.

“I love that it is a nonprofit and that it focuses on lower income families. That is hard to find in Colorado,” she said. “Just being able to give seniors an amazing place to live where they feel safe and secure and cared for, that is why I wanted to come to Golden West.”
