The Towers feature 470 square foot studio and 540 square foot one-bedroom apartments. All have wall-to-wall windows that highlight spectacular Boulder views.
The Mezzanine offers 307 square foot studio apartments. Each one has a full wall of windows and a private bathroom with a walk-in shower.

All residents benefit from the convenience of only one monthly bill that includes rent, utilities, phone, cable and our service package. We offer many services in-house, including some banking and postal services, onsite dining, exercise programs and physical therapy, foot care, massage therapy and many others.
For our assisted living residents, we provide all meals and snacks when desired. We take care of all of the cleaning and laundry. We administer all medications and reorder them as needed. We can assist with showering a couple times a week, and provide light assistance with dressing (i.e. socks, buttons). We can provide reminders such as when a meal is beginning, when a program of interest is starting, when a doctor’s appointment is coming up. We can escort people to programs, and set up appointments and transportation for them. We provide several wellness checks throughout the day, including overnight.
Residents of The Towers (independent living) do not receive laundry service. Residents of The Mezzanine (assisted living) receive weekly personal laundry and linen service, as well as daily bed-making.
No. You can furnish your apartment to your liking; however, window coverings are provided.
Onsite dining is available for independent living residents at a modest additional cost. All meals are provided to assisted living residents as part of our monthly rate. Snacks are also included.

We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner each day to assisted living residents, with several nutritious options for each meal. The Mezzanine has a dining room on each floor, so it is easily accessible from each apartment.
Yes, our staff can bring your meal on a tray to your apartment by request for a limited time during an illness.
We offer meal options without added sugars or salts. Our dining team can also provide vegetarian and gluten-free selections. Each resident will be responsible for ordering food appropriate to his or her dietary needs.
The Towers (independent living) are 14 stories tall. The Mezzanine (assisted living) has four stories of apartments above a lower level with common areas.
No, we do not have storage other than the space in your apartment.
Yes. Pets are allowed for an additional, non-refundable security deposit accompanied by our signed Pet Policy, provided the resident is able to take care of the pet on their own.
Yes, there are lovely gardens and walking paths off the southeast end of the building. We are also very near an underpass that goes under 28th Street to access the beautiful walking areas on the CU campus, and we are located very close to the Boulder Creek path as well.
No. Some good options for swimming include the East Boulder Senior Center, about two miles east of us, and the pool at Scott Carpenter Park, about a mile north of us.
We have an extensive calendar of fun, creative, educational, wellness, and spiritual programs. All programs are open to everyone in The Towers and The Mezzanine for no extra charge. The only time there may be an extra charge is for a program presented outside of Golden West (i.e. tickets to a show, admission to a museum, etc.)
Yes! We go out regularly to the mountains, museums, concerts, shows, sporting events, etc. All day trips are planned in accordance with the input and interest of residents. We also make the difficulty level known so that the residents can decide if it sounds feasible for them to attend.
We have several lounge areas, including a library, throughout The Towers and The Mezzanine buildings. We do offer a variety of fitness groups and classes as part of our monthly activities calendar. We also have a Wellness Center, which is run by Legacy Healthcare and located on the first floor. Anyone can pay an additional monthly fee there to benefit from an individualized exercise program supervised by an exercise physiologist. Residents can also receive physical, occupational, and speech therapy under Medicare Part B with a doctor’s order.
Yes, we have services for both men and women at a specially designed shop. All services are by appointment and payment is arranged through the salon.
Residents can use RTD, located nearby on 30th Street, and special transit for transportation needs outside of our regularly scheduled trips. In assisted living, our staff can set up appointments for residents as well as coordinate and book transportation.
Golden West is not associated with any skilled nursing community. If the need arises, our staff will communicate with the resident and family, and assist in the decision as to which care option and/or facility would be the best fit, as much as requested.

Golden West is a nonprofit corporation that was originally sponsored by First Christian Church in 1965, and now is operated by a Board of Directors composed of members from the Boulder community.
We typically have rate increases the first of every year.
There is controlled access to all the buildings through a card that residents scan at each door. Guests must enter by buzzing the apartment they are visiting. In addition, all main entrances are monitored by security cameras 24 hours a day. We also have a system by which residents can alert staff to an emergency 24 hours a day. In The Mezzanine, caregivers are on duty 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies, as well as provide routine checks on residents and handle any requests through the night.
Yes. The construction is such that insulation between apartments controls the sound.
The building includes a brand new sprinkler system and each apartment is equipped with smoke detectors and sprinklers.
Yes. We have one completely furnished guest apartment in The Towers. Residents will need to check with staff to coordinate availability.
Independent living does not provide any medication assistance.
Assisted living residents will receive all medications they need. All of our caregivers are Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP) and can dispense medications. They are supervised by a registered nurse (RN) who oversees the medication program, orders medications from the pharmacy, communicates with residents’ physicians, etc.
Yes. Many of our residents use some sort of device to assist with mobility. We do require residents who use an electric scooter to undergo a safety assessment and sign a safety policy.
We provide telephones with large, easy to use buttons, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. In addition, each resident receives an individual, direct phone number through our phone system.
There is a minimum age of 62. There is no maximum age.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the Golden West campus.
There is no assessment required for Independent Living. The State of Colorado requires Assisted Living residents to have a signed order from their physician authorizing the move, as well as orders for Golden West to handle their medications. In addition, Golden West will conduct an evaluation to make sure we can safely meet the needs of each person who moves in.
